Showbiz

My DBF Jon is a high school technical theater teacher, so he designs and builds several sets each year. This year, he was hired to do a set for a local professional theater company. The picture isn't great (taken on my phone in crummy lighting), but I hope you can see some of the cool details, like the circles in the crown molding that echo the circles in the window transoms. The floor, which looks like hardwood, is actually painted with a wood graining technique. It was fun to sit in the audience and overhear comments about the set, which was bigger and fancier than other sets in this same theater. That's showbiz!

  1. What a cool set! What is the show? My John designed most of the sets for the plays he directed as a teacher of high school drama. He especially likes the playing levels and archways provided by Jon's set.

  4. Not, THAT is a highly specialized job--but what fun! It certainly looks like he's a master.

  7. What a great set indeed! Showbiz is all about illusion - love that you got to eavesdrop and get a darn good phone shot.
