A different kind of real estate

A visit to Mesa Verde National Park, not too far from Durango in southwest Colorado, gave us some insight into the culture of the Anasazi people. We visited the Cliff Palace late in the day, and I was very lucky to catch this shot with no tourists in it, before we headed down. Exploring these magnificently preserved cliff dwellings gave me a renewed appreciation for the intelligence and ingenuity of these early, early residents. (Plus, it was really fun climbing on all those ladders!) :-D

  1. Hmmmmm.....wonder what it would sell for? LOL

I have never been there, but now it is definitely on my list of places to see, this is incredible! Love how you got the shot from up high - it almost looks like sand castles!

  4. Where are the Anasazi???? That is a mystery that you could spend several lifetimes investigating without coming to a definitive answer. Historically the most important Photo posted on this Challenge to date - You are so lucky to have breathed their air.

  9. Fabulous perspective of this amazing place. The light you captured is magical. Years ago climbing around was banned after too many jerks visiting, glad that has been resolved.

  10. I think I was about 13 years old when I climbed those ladders - scary at the time. A wonderful shot and how lucky there were no tourists!
